Party time at Lunatic Fest! The amazing line-up of day 1 certainly rocked the stage! There were a bunch of surprise appearances throughout the day, for example Pata joining Tokyo Yankees or Sugizo showing up with his violin during Dir en Grey’s performance. The night also ended with a special Muteki style band, uniting tonights artists on stage – Yoshiki brought along hides guitar as a tribute to him. :)
There was also an interview with the band afterwards – but unfortuntely they didn’t share any news. :P

Lunatic Fest. just announced two more bands to complete their line-up: Buck-Tick and… X JAPAN!
The Luna Sea organised 2-days festival will take place at Makuhari Messe (Chiba) on June 27th and June 28th.
When the first details about Lunatic Fest. surfaced, it already reminded many of the good old Extasy Summit concerts of the 90ies. And there are indeed quite a bunch of bands who grew up int he Extasy Records family, for example X JAPAN and Luna Sea, Glay, Tokyo Yankees, Ladies Room. But also a lot of other big names like D’ERLANGER, Dir En Grey, Siam Shade, MUCC, AION…!

• SIAM SHADE
• DIR EN GREY
• DEAD END

2014 seems to be the year of classical music here on Xplosion. After YOSHIKI going on world tour with his “Yoshiki Classical” program and Sugizo releasing a selection of handpicked classical pieces, Luna Sea are the next in line.
Ikuro Fujiwara wrote arrangements of Luna Sea’s music for the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and the results can be listened to on their new CD “Symphonic Luna Sea -Reboot” which will hit the shelved on November 26th.
The tracklist of the new album hasn’t been revealed yet, but we expect some of their new songs on it, too. Back in 1994/1995, Luna Sea did two “Symphonic Luna Sea” albums, performed by The Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra.
Ikuro Fujiwara also worked together with YOSHIKI for his Eternal Melody II album, and conducted the Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra at YOSHIKI’s Symphonic concert in 2002.
The tracklist for “Symphonic Luna Sea -Reboot” had been published!
• 乱 (RUN)
• IN SILENCE
• I for You
• LOVE SONG

“Huh, wait! Classic…Sugizo??” this or something similar might have been our first reaction when reading that Sugizo will release his new album, between all the Yoshiki Classical news. On September 24th his new album, titled “Spiritual Classic Sugizo Selection”, will hit the shelves.
It will include both a selection of classical pieces selected by the guitarist and violin player, as well as bonus tracks arranged by him. Since Sugizo is known for his diverse and innovative music, we are absolutely looking forward to what he comes up with!
Until then, Sugizo is keeping himself busy with Luna Sea’s current 25th Anniversary activities, which had the first celebratory concert on May 29th and will kick off the actual tour tomorrow!
Additionally, he will perform at”Nakatsugawa THE SOLAR BUDOKAN 2014″ on September 28th. More information on the official website!
Update: The release date had been re-scheduled from September 17th to September 24th.
