I spent the weekend of the 14th and 15th of August in Shin Yokohama soaking up the atmosphere of the two concerts. It was a wonderful weekend. Yokohama was taken over by X fans.  They were everywhere, all dressed up in their eye-catching cosplay attires.  The temperature, however, was very hot.  Despite that, ToshI still somehow managed to be dressed for winter.

On the first morning the line for the merchandise was incredibly long.  I waited in it for several hours in the heat.  Not much fun but I enjoyed soaking in the atmosphere.

Nissan Stadium is huge and the atmosphere inside was electric.  From where we were, up in the heavens, the whole scene was so beautiful.  As the night progressed, and it became increasingly darker and darker, which only made it more beautiful.

Both concerts were great but I’m here to write about the second one.

The first song was Jade.  I like this song, but I cannot say I love it.  I would prefer a more “traditional” X opener like Rusty Nail and, preceding that, Prologue (World Anthem).

Following came the aforementioned Rusty Nail, Drain (got to love a good rocking song like that), Forever Love (which was accompanied by SUGIZO’s violin – the audience loved it!) and Piano Solo.

Then, one of my all time favourites, Tears.

The audience went wild when the hide scenes then appeared during Kurenai.  That footage from The Last Live is always a crowd pleaser.  When hide smiles it is such a beautiful moment.

Next came Born to be Free, followed by the guitar and bass jam solo and then YOSHIKI’s drum solo (from the pyramid, not the stage…).
Coming from the pyramid, opposite of the stage and closer to us wasn’t so surprising on the second night having been the first night.  It was still nice to have YOSHIKI closer though!

Finally, I.V  which featured a lot of audience participation. This was then followed by a shortened version of Unfinished.
Next up was X (which was performed with Taiji!); what can I say? the audience was wild with the X jump!

The final song for the evening was Endless Rain which was followed by Tears (SE) and Forever Love (SE).

It’s a little hard to differentiate the two concerts in my mind because they just meld into one, long weekend.

The new pachinko machine was displayed in several locations.  Although it’s not in my immediate interests, I’m sure there are people who love this kind of thing.

There were plenty of cosplayers, especially hide ones which was no surprise.  When I look over my photos they are so colourful and bright.  I don’t know how they do it in that kind of heat…and their hair still sticks up!  Amazing.

I have now been to 4 X concerts and they have all been heavenly.  I tend to remember the general atmosphere and my feelings rather than all the little things that happen.  I’m just so happy that I could get tickets and a hotel room for the weekend and hope that all of you have the chance to see X sometime, somewhere.  It’s really magical and, well, a lot of fun.

We are X!
